Motorcycles

To get started all you need is a motorcycle, whether that's straight from the factory or a custom build in your shed - IDC offers everything you need to take a more personalised path. With a collection/delivery service available and a strip/fit solution too, you can send off your motorcycle in one piece and collect your motorcycle in one piece - no harm done. Just pure custom riding bliss.

Everything else

IDC doesn't stop at motorcycles, instead, they offer a wide range of possibilities ready to reinvigorate your current style. From fully customised helmets and bicycles to guitars, IDC does it all! Utilising a digital planning process and an airbrush painting technique, you get full access to the design process. Every job is bespoke to the needs of the execution - but a lot like a tattoo, it'll cost you more the longer you sit in the chair.

The Process

The process is dependent on the type of project. We've featured the main steps in they took one of our recent collaborations to create our custom Sportster® S, Twenty-4.

Adding masking tape

1. Let's get masking

The bike went into IDC with stock paintwork from the factory. So the first step was to sand back the bike and prime it with a high build primer. Once cured this was sanded back again to get an even smoother finish, ready for its first coat of base colours and design. With colour on the way, the bike was masked using ultra-fine masking tape for optimum crisp edging.

Masking tape removal

2. Add the first coat

It was time for the very first coat of paint to be applied over the masked design. After this coat of paint was added, they removed the initial masked areas and then worked further detail into the initially-covered sections. We had a Harley® logo we wanted to integrate into the design of this bike, so this was then airbrushed on after the main custom paint design was completed.

3. Clean and smooth

At this stage the panels were ready for their first hit of clearcoat lacquer. This is used not only as a protectant but also as a way to enhance the colours on the panels. Once applied, the lacquer was then in need of baking off and curing in the spray booth. After the spray, the entire project went off for another sand down to ensure there were no paint edges or bumpy sections.

Shiny motorcycle tank

4. Shiny and ready

Once the edges were all as smooth as they could possibly be, the team made final touch-ups to achieve a premium end result. The motorcycle then had another 3 or 4 lacquer layers - again cured in the spray booth. After the lacquer operation was finished, the bike was finally polished, cleaned and wrapped for delivery back to us.

Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.

Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required. Please see our complaints page for our complaints policiy and regulatory complaints.
