Chopping off the Lockdown Locks

POSTED: 02/09/2021

Our very own Chris Jones is chopping his “Lockdown Locks” off for Little Princess Trust!

Our very own Chris Jones, Sales Advisor at Honda Maidstone is cutting off over 12 inches of his hair and donating it to children suffering from cancer and other conditions via The Little Princess Trust. His goal is to spread the word about the charity and everything they do, whilst helping them do incredible work. As this is such a fantastic effort for such a great cause we wanted to share Chris’ story!

What inspired you to donate your hair?

“It’s better being put to good use than on a barbershop floor!”

“I have always had lots of friends who rocked long hair, from skaters to goths – and now friends in the biker community. Over lockdown, a few of my friends have been growing their hair out to then donate it to this fantastic charity. I thought I’d take a leaf out of their books and give it a go myself, to hopefully use my hair for the greater good.

After finding out about The Little Princess Trust, I noticed that hair is something society generally take for granted and moan about having to comb knots out of all the time! For thousands of children and young people internationally, hair loss due to cancer and associated treatment is devastating. It only exacerbates the battle with their illness and treatment. So I wanted to do my bit to help.

The charity doesn’t only accept hair donations to provide wigs, they also support fund research into the causes of cancer which we can hope in the long run to help eradicate the disease.”

What is your goal?

“My main aim is to raise awareness for this great charity.”

“The Little Princess Trust accepts all hair donations that are longer than 7 inches, but they have a greater need for more than 12 inches. The last time I measured my hair a few months ago I had 12 inches and counting, so I feel I will be ready to donate soon. (On a side note, my other half also wants me to cut it ASAP so that I have a good 2 years to grow it back before our wedding, if she’s not a fan of the lack of locks!)

I think we can all agree in our everyday lives, we can focus on the negative things. Not taking the time to appreciate the positive things that we take for granted. I feel that if we all took a moment to try and make someone else’s life that little bit easier, then we would be shaping a better world. Even if you’re doing something as trivial as cutting your hair off and donating it to a good cause.

In terms of goals, my main aim is to raise awareness of this great charity and hopefully spread the word about the great work they do.”

More about The Little Princess Trust

When a child loses their hair to cancer or any other condition, The Little Princess Trust are there with a free, real hair wig supporting the child’s self-confidence and identity. The Little Princess Trust is a fantastic charity that promises to stop at nothing until the research that they fund ends childhood cancer forever.

The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers like Chris, and they receive no formal funding. The donation of hair is made entirely again, by community fundraisers – sharing your hair with children and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss is an incredible thing to do. Since 2006, they’ve provided more than 8,000 wigs and have given grants totalling more than £7 million towards research projects focussed on finding more effective treatments for childhood cancers.

Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.

Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required. Please see our complaints page for our complaints policiy and regulatory complaints.
