Protecting your head via good helmet protection is VITAL in any emergency situation or accident. Your head is a hugely vulnerable area in the event of an accident and can take impact negatively, causing potential lifelong damage or in some cases, death.
Good helmet protection will provide you with comfort, safety, functionality, weatherproofing and noise reduction. Here in the UK, we have a testing facility called Sharp, which undertake numerous helmet tests daily to ensure quality is up to standard. They provide guidance on helmets available in the UK, sharing results of strictly controlled condition testing experiments.

This is false, a helmet should be changed every 3-5 years of use, after a crash or when your helmet has been dropped. This is because the inside foam and fabric line starts to deteriorate, not only the material you see but the underlining too. Causing your helmet to be less than 80% effective.

Obvious to some but not everyone. If you have had an accident and your helmet looks to have only taken a small chip or scratch, you should replace your helmet anyway as you won't know of the amount of damage on the inside - don't risk it!
