Brayden takes the A2 restrictor off

POSTED: 22/05/2022

STEPPING UP

Our very own Brayden Quinn (Digital Marketing Assistant & Content Lead) here at Maidstone Honda recently took his full A licence test. Ahead of his test he underwent some training with the fantastic Medway & Mid Kent Motorcycle Training school who are based in Aylesford, Kent.

Today we will be following Brayden's journey to secure his full licence so others know what to expect when doing their Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests!

Note: We currently have a fantastic step-up motorcycling offer. When you take training with Medway & Mid Kent Motorcycle Training and pass, you'll receive £500 off a new Honda motorcycle at Maidstone Honda.

Step One: Warm-Up

With Medway & Mid Kent Motorcycle Training, you can choose exactly how much training you think is necessary before taking your Mod 1 and Mod 2 exams. The training for Mod 1 commences at the Aylesford Bulls Rugby Club, Hall Road, Aylesford, ME20 7QS where Mid Kent has a practise area. The Mod 1 training goes through the exam from beginning to end, allowing the rider to really grasp each manoeuvre before moving on to the next. The team are incredibly good at supporting riders and helping to grow their confidence in preparation for their test, as well as answering any questions they may have and providing tips that will allow riders to have confidence during their tests.

Step Two: Mod 1

When it was time for Brayden to take the first part of his tests, naturally nerves had started to set in while he was ready and waiting to go at the Gillingham DVSA Driving Test Centre. Dave from Mid Kent was supportive and reassuring about everything, allowing Brayden to calm his nerves before getting onto the motorcycle. As previously practised with Mid Kent Training, Brayden went through each component of the test:

Stands & manual handling
Slalom
Figure of eight
Slow ride
U-turn
Cornering
Controlled stop
Circuit ride
Emergency stop
Avoidance (controlled swerve)

After successful completion of these motorcycle manoeuvres, Brayden received good news and confirmation that he could now move on to his Mod 2 test.

Step Three: Mod 2

The time had come for Brayden to take his Mod 2 test which is an on-the-road examination, this time in Tunbridge Wells. Brayden's nerves were growing rapidly again, but the Mid Kent team who were on-hand were reassuring and calming, preparing Brayden for the test ahead on the road with a dedicated examiner.

Mid Kent Training packs a huge amount of helpful knowledge into your training in order to prepare you fully for the tests and Brayden's training instructor, Dave, had included various routes the test examiner could take, highlighted road signs to be wary of and safe places to stop so he was fully prepared for his tests.

...and thanks to this A-class training, Brayden concluded his Friday afternoon with the fantastic achievement of his full A licence.

A word from Brayden

"Thank you Medway & Mid Kent Motorcycle Training for all the support you provided me with. My overall experience was great and the training and knowledge shared was immaculate.

A huge thanks to Dave for continuing to calm my nerves and making the test feel more natural and less pressured.

On a side note, Midkent Training definitely should buy Dave a new Rebel 500, he deserves it!"

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
