Meet Roxy Velvet, Roxy is the proud owner of London's first female-only staffed tattoo studio, 'Velvet Underground Tattoo'. Evidently absorbing all the edgy genes in the gene pool, she also rides motorcycles - with her current ride being the Mutt Motorcycles FSR125cc.

From burlesque to bikes
From a background of aerial, burlesque and circus performing, her passion for tattoo evolved from one crazy night with a friend. A pal set her up on a tattoo machine, applied a stencil to his arm and said 'Go on then!'. From that one night, she packed up her bags and moved over to Thailand where she trained with Thai Art then later over to Sweden with Stockholm Ink.
Roxy adopted the two-wheel lifestyle early on, getting her first manual bike aged 19. 'It was a Suzuki RV125, which was in pieces in my boyfriend's Dad's garage. He said he'd rebuild the engine if I did the electrics'. Although out of her depth, Roxy managed to figure it out!
Road trips to showroom sitting
Since her Suzuki RV125, Roxy hasn't looked back - she even squeezed in a three-week road trip through Vietnam just before lockdown. Roxy's eyes were constantly flitting around the custom motorcycle scene, finding herself sitting on the bikes at Mutt Motorcycles, in Bethnal Green.
She personally finds them ideal for her size and weight and loves the custom feel with a retro-inspired twist. 'They look great, they sound great, they turn heads and they are perfect for getting me through traffic in style when I've slept through my four alarms'. It's a bike that'll make you grin every time!
