If you've been thinking about customising your Harley-Davidson® motorcycle, but for one reason or another are not fully onboard with getting the entire work done, then why not start off a little smaller? Making minor tweaks to your motorcycle here and there over time can keep you feeling more in control whilst creating something more exciting!
We wanted to enhance one of our new bike offerings in the showroom here at Maidstone Harley-Davidson®, so we asked our Jack, (Motorcycle Technician), to add a little bit of custom magic to one of our brand-new Street Bob® models. Keeping everything small-scale with no extreme changes or excessive work hours - it's surprising and impressive to see what differences can be made.
Scroll down to follow what Jack did...
Jack begins by selecting one of our new Harley-Davidson® 2022 Street Bob® models out of the showroom. He then takes the fresh mile shredder to our workshop and puts it on his workbench.
Side note - can you spot the lego Jack?
This customisation journey begins with the foot controls. Jack first removes the stock controls and adds an extended shifter linkage rod, allowing the foot controls to work as they usually would - but locating them at a distance further from the initially mounted position. Once the foot controls have been moved, Jack covers the primary hole with the cover plug for a more finished look.
The next step of the process is the Airfilter. Jack removes the stock Airfilter and then replaces it with a Screamin Eagle High-Flo K&N Element replacement for maximum performance at all speeds.
There are tons of Airfilters on the market for you to choose from in all shapes and sizes. Replacing your stock air filter with something more custom can change the engine aesthetic and in some cases, add performance.
After the Airfilter was changed it was time to add a more authentic Harley® rumble to the Bob! Jack first removed the O2 sensors, pillion pegs and mounting brackets - then took the stock exhausts off. He then replaced the stock pipes with Bassini Pro Street pipes and reattached the mounting brackets, pillion pegs and O2 sensors... good as new!
The final step in this custom journey is the handlebar modification. Jack swaps over the stock bars to a set of Chubby Bar Handlebars. Due to the length of the stock Street Bob®'s handlebars, the brake lines and clutch cables need to be changed too - this will stop the lengthy cables flapping about unnecessarily.
For the finishing touches, we also added handlebar risers, equalizers and strip-turning front signals - for some extra custom edge. To finish off this project we gave the bike a Dyno Tune and rolled it back into the showroom for its first owner to adore.
This motorcycle looks seriously cool and it won't be around for long!

Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.
We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.
Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.
Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
