What bikes have you owned: Marc

POSTED: 12/12/2022

What's your motorcycle journey?

How many motorcycles have you owned?

Every motorcyclist has their own unique story about the motorcycles they've owned over the years. Some have had loads of motorcycles, some few, but everyone's story is different. Some riders prefer to keep their rides and build a collection and some sell - and it's pretty safe to say there will always be that one motorcycle you wish you'd never sold. So this series is dedicated to exploring our staff's motorcycle journeys, finding out what they've ridden in the past and what they ride today.

Marc, one of our Sales Advisors here at Laguna Motorcycles in Maidstone has owned a total of 14 motorcycles on his journey with a 15th on its way. Let's take a look at his list! Have you owned any of these rides? Which ones were your favourites?...

What models stood out for you?

"The two bikes I really got a sense of fulfilment out of were the Honda VFR750 and the Triumph Ace Cafe T120.

The Honda was bulletproof by nature. It's an awesome commuter bike. This really was the bike that was great for all seasons, plus due to the amount of bodywork and fairing, you feel protected from the wind, etc.

The Ace Cafe T120 was brilliant. It was a bike I bought when I finished commuting and could simply purchase a motorcycle I just really liked the look of! I opted for an iconic Bonneville. The engine was phenomenal and the torque was next to genius - it always sounded amazing and the only thing you're perhaps missing is some electronic rider aids, but that's kind of the point of modern classic motorcycles."

Which was your favourite bike and why?

"I would say the two Triumph Motorcycles that I currently own are my all-time favourite motorcycles. The Scrambler 1200 XC offers a fantastic engine that I've continued to enjoy since I owned the bike. It makes me feel like Steve McQueen when I ride it. (Maybe I should be in the movies too!) It sounds great and always reminds me of the motorcycle my father used to ride.

In addition to the Scrambler, I would have to pick the Street Triple RS. What a bike... it's unbelievable. I don't have a bad thing to say about the model. It has a weird ability to make you feel like a better rider and of course it sounds immaculate straight from the factory."

What's next?

With the release of the Triumph Chrome Collection, Marc knew he had to have one - so quickly made his order. The model Marc had his eyes on was the absolutely stunning Thruxton RS. If you haven't seen this mean machine, check it out!

Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Laguna Motorcycles Limited (which include multiple trading names: Laguna Motorcycles, Laguna Performance Centre, Laguna Triumph, Maidstone Honda, Maidstone Harley-Davidson® and Kent Motorcycles) to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.

Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required. Please see our complaints page for our complaints policiy and regulatory complaints.
